Bellydance is one of those things that’s on everyone’s bucket list.
The most common answer I get when I ask why people want to bellydance, is that they just like it. It’s something they always wanted to do.
It’s hard to put it into words beyond that, right? There’s just something about the dance that draws you in.
Well, why do you like Rihanna?
Cuz she’s a badass. She’s so beautiful. I like her music…
Ok get real – basically you want to be her. She represents your alter ego – a side of yourself you wouldn’t mind role-playing now and again. You get to live vicariously through her.
It’s mostly the same with bellydance. You just want to explore another side of yourself. But somehow it’s a little uncomfortable admitting it.
Here's why...
When you use the Fenty products or sing along to Love On the Brain, it’s kind of like imagining you and Rihanna are the same, and you are part of her world. But you don’t have to become an icon yourself.
With a celebrity crush, you aren’t responsible for any kind of personal transformation.
You can have a terrible singing voice, wear plain clothes, no makeup and never do your hair. And still imagine yourself as her. It’s safe, predictable. No effort required.
That’s why superfans are always so weird.
On the other hand with dance, it’s all you. It’s YOU, broadening your actual experience and how you define yourself in this life.
Scary stuff.
But totally worth it. Any time you spend bettering yourself is time well spent.
